My trading setup with The Toy

I have run out of things to say about my trading on the blog at the moment, its going along pretty much the same, I am performing fairly well, but am looking for improvements which aren't happening yet. So I thought I would say a little about my setup and the software I use. I used to use one application, which was not bad, but I wasn't totally happy with it. I was interested to see how hard it could be to write my own app( I know quite a bit of Java and C), so started messing around. I got as far as being able to log in and retrieve my account balance, and then the next day a blog post directed me to an application called A Geeks Toy. Almost immediately I could see that it would take me weeks or months to write something as good as this, it looked good, and felt good to use, and fast! Best of all, it was free! So, no more coding for me. It is fairly customizable, you can dock and undock various windows, move graphs around, change the size of ladders, etc. I am very impressed by its speed. Using my old application, when the betfair API was being sticky, you would really notice it, but with The Toy, it manages to function almost as if there are no problems.I have 1 PC running the Toy, on a 32'' monitor, and my laptop as backup, with the Toy loaded, but disconnected from the API to avoid data charges, and mobile broadband ( costs me £5 a month) just incase my PC crashes, or my main broadband connection goes down.
Here are a few screenshots of some of the different set ups that are possible

  1. Doesn't have stop losses or any graphs though does it ? Seems very basic and doesn't even do green offset but I suppose if you're starting out it is free

  2. lol, its way better than anything else I have tried, and its still being developed, stop losses and other features still to be added. You are entitled to your opinion I guess.

  3. Good post, I also use the toy. I have used the other platforms and to be honest I found them very good. However, I do find the toy the best I have used. Thats not because it's free, but I find it suits my trading style better & I find the forum great and friendly but above all the creator of the toy goes out of his way to help you with any questions.

  4. DJ, yes I agree about the community that is building up around the Toy, helpful and friendly. As for charts, I can see quite a few charts in the screenshots( WOM, last traded price, Betfair chart) so not sure what first poster is on about.Advance charting is being developed for the next release I think. Also, I received another comment, almost word for word exactly the same as the first negative comment, with a different user name, so obviously something is going on, competitors not happy with the Toys excellence maybe. Just because its free doesnt mean its not good. Like I said, its the best of the trading applications I have tried.

  5. I have found on looking into it that The Toy does have green offset implemented already.

  6. No it doesn't. It has tick offset but not with greening yet.

The Toy is not about doing everything that every other trading application does. Its focus is to bring an unbeatable price & quality to the 20% of features that 80% of people use, and I think it's fair to say from general user feedback, it does exactly that.

And if the toy doesn't have what you need, take a look at gruss betting assistant. Probably the market leader in terms of it's features and the customer service, and all at the bargain price of £6 a month.

  7. Nice setup. There's nothing basic about the toy at all Know it all, it's a powerful piece of kit. Since moving from betangel I've seen my profits increase by 15% due to the increase in speed. Might not sound like much but will add up to 1000s extra per year. Most of the pros I'm in contact with are making it the software of their choice, don't be fooled by the fact that it's free

  8. It may be basic for some ppl but not for me and I am using The Toy NOT because it's free. I am a TT trader just because I want and I need the best and fastest trading application available today ;) I had still 3 months subscription to Evo but never used it during this period. Maybe it says something for you, or maybe not.

I tried BA Pro and all other trading applications I can think about....The Toy is still my #1 choice....and will be so even if I have to pay for it.

When I need tools not currently available in TT I use Betting Assistant.

  10. Wow, the most comments Ive ever had on a post lol.

Anonymous number 2, its not a lot of shit, pros do use it, and they use it because it is the best application ( for most things). Yes some others have excel, and The Toy is not trying to compete with that, but it does the things it does way better than any other app IMO

Rockaren, I also had 6 months left of my subscription to another trading application, so its not like I am using it just because it is free. To me it was miles better.

  11. Has Peter been threatening you with the laywers? As you seem to have omitted that your old software was Bet Angel.
